Savance completely redesign's EIOBoard chat engine from an open source JabberD to their proprietary chat engine. The redesign was done primarily for stability issues. JabberD proved itself to be unreliable when user load was high. It also was unable to recover from errors and Savance engineers were unable to predict or control the stability. Savance was spending more time supporting the engine and the issues associated than would have been required to architect a brand new engine custom-designed to fit EIOBoard's needs.
