Savance's first stand-alone customer begins using OrderSavant. The system, which was originally designed to augment current business systems, was designed to include modules like shipping, receiving, cash sales, purchasing, and invoicing to accommodate the needs of the small to medium size electrical distributor. Wholesale is moving from a paper-based system where every price had to be looked up in a trade book to a first-class system. Price updates are now done from manufacturer disks or Material Express updates, quotes are now put together in a matter of seconds, and the cash sale process now involves scanning items and printing a receipt with prices - something customers would have to wait for in the past. Dick from Wholesale explains, "we really had no choice, we had to do something to stay in business. We were over-staffed for the amount of sales we were able to handle. The fellas at Savance offered a cost-effective way to do things other distributors only dreamed of."
