Intier implemented a custom solution designed by Savance to try to reduce or eliminate their scrap. Savance engineers worked with engineers at Intier to set up a data collection system for their plant floor and installed touchscreens running Savance's software to allow operators to input critical information about the scrap such as what mold it came from and what was wrong with the door. Staff are now alerted and floor supervisors can get up-to-the minute feedback to make changes before things get out of hand. Intier has estimated that the system should reduce scrap by as much as 1/2 by the end of the year saving the plant almost five million dollars. Savance was able to provide the entire system with all the necessary hardware for under $20,000.
